Discovery Green is a vibrant 12-acre park located in the heart of downtown Houston. Aimed at bringing the community together, this place works with numerous partners to present three free programming seasons each year. Some of the activities you can find at this park are pilates, tai chi, yoga, and movie nights!

You can find everything at this park from restaurants to playgrounds to performance spaces. If you want to catch some sun near the water, we recommend visiting Kinder Lake. For just $5 per person, you can rent a kayak and take a leisurely ride on the water. Kayaking and summer are a great duo!

3. Learn About Space at Space Center Houston

Need a break from that summer heat? Space Center Houston is the perfect place to spend the day indoors. This nonprofit educational museum is one of Houston’s top attractions. The center features over 400 space artifacts and multiple permanent and traveling exhibits. Educational emphasis is placed on fun and engaging STEM topics.

During the summer, Space Center Houston offers a variety of age-appropriate summer camps. The explorer camps are aimed at children between the ages of 4 to 11 and are designed to introduce children to the world of STEM. These 5-day camps are great if you are looking for a fun yet meaningful summer activity for children.
