1. Mia’s Table
For fried catfish, burgers, tacos, ribs, shrimp, and much more, dine here at Mia’s. This counter-serve restaurant has been a family favorite of locals for years. The quick and prompt service means the hungry kids won’t have to wait for long. Start with one of the quick bites, like the Triple Play or buffalo wings. Then try a seafood platter, a grilled chicken sandwich, or the pulled pork street tacos.
For those looking for a lighter meal, we love their soups and salads. Have a steak salad or the green goddess with salmon with a cup of chicken tortilla soup. The little ones will enjoy the chicken nuggets, chicken strips, a cheeseburger, a corn dog, a hot dog, or a grilled cheese, all served with either French fries, chips, or fruit, and a drink. This venue is located at 3131 Argonne St. and they are open every day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
2. Hickory Hollow Restaurant and Catering
This Western-style dining venue is known for its great barbecue dishes as well as steak, potatoes, and more. We like that they offer family meals that serve four people and even your dog, as they say. Other selections include grilled chicken breast, chicken-fried steak, and smoked sausage, and the kids will have their appetites more than satisfied with a smoked turkey sandwich, fried fresh chicken tenders, a barbecue brisket sandwich, or a hamburger.
You can even order smoked barbecue or pork spare ribs to go. Their hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Come on out to 8038 Fallbrook Dr.
3. Little Matt’s
There are many reasons to like this establishment, starting with the food. They serve burgers, chicken, Tex-Mex dishes, and salad. Be sure to have the garlic fries while your cheeseburgers are being made. Just a warning, however: you might have to get kiddos to sit down long enough to have a meal before they enjoy the game room and candy shop. They also have TV screens, so you don’t miss the game.
